The Strategic Shift in Solution Procurement<\/strong> Looking ahead to the next 24 months, a rebalancing is emerging: 32% of organisations expect to prefer implementations from pure-play or specialised platform providers in the future. By contrast, 26% favour the use of hyperscalers for these deployments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. Accuracy and Customisability as Decisive Criteria<\/strong> Furthermore, 39% of respondents consider specialised solutions easier to customise and optimise (compared to 28% for hyperscalers). This perception is even more pronounced among IT and data decision-makers: 40% of IT personas rate the customisability of pure-play providers more favourably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. Clear Preference in Heavily Regulated Industries<\/strong> 4. The Growing Relevance of Private and Hybrid Cloud Architectures<\/strong>
According to the study, over the past 24 months, 74% of primary IDP implementations were still based on hyperscaler solutions. Nevertheless, the market signals a high willingness to switch: 63% of surveyed decision-makers indicate that they will likely or very likely change their current IDP solution approach within the next twelve months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The motivation for this shift is clearly measurable. For 42% of customers, accuracy and quality is the most important factor when evaluating future deployments. In precisely this area, specialised providers are perceived by the market as more capable: 37% of respondents rate pure-play solutions as leading in “out-of-the-box accuracy”, compared to 28% for hyperscalers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The preference for specialised solutions is particularly pronounced in industries with the highest requirements for compliance, data security and error-free processing. IDC’s forecasts for the IDP operational mix in 2028 illustrate that pure-play providers are significantly preferred in critical sectors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
The study also underlines that standardised public cloud strategies often reach their limits when processing sensitive documents. Already today, 28% of IDP workloads are operated in private clouds and a further 17% in hybrid cloud environments. IDC highlights that the need for controllable infrastructures continues to play a central role due to compliance and security requirements. Organisations are increasingly reclaiming sovereign control over their data and models within protected cloud infrastructures in order to implement regulatory requirements comprehensively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
